Finding out you’re going to be a big brother or sister is exciting for some kids; for others… not so much.
When Joel and Courtney Parlour of Seattle, Washington, were expecting their second child, they had an ultrasound to learn the baby’s gender. The couple was thrilled to discover they’d be welcoming a baby girl, so they decided to come up with a fun way to let their son Brinton in on the big news.
Like most firstborn children, Brinton had gotten pretty used to being the only apple of his parents’ eye… but all that was about to change. Joel and Courtney had no doubt talked to Brinton about becoming a big brother, and he was excited when his dad brought out a mysterious black balloon for the gender reveal.
The balloon was filled with confetti — would it be pink, for a girl, or blue, for a boy?
Brinton couldn’t wait to find out. Or, at least, he couldn’t wait to use that knife (with dad’s help) to pop the balloon. The two of them stabbed at the plastic and suddenly, it burst open!
It’s a girl!
In typical toddler fashion, Brinton doesn’t react as you might expect he might. Instead of jumping up and down, he started to back away slowly. Seconds later, he utters two words that have the whole internet laughing.
Thankfully, Brinton had a few more months to get used to the idea of having a little sister.
By the time baby Adalyn was born, he was more than willing to give her a chance. Joel shared the first time Brinton met Adalyn on YouTube, and it’s just plain adorable.
He can’t wait to get up onto the hospital bed and give his little sister a kiss. What a sweetheart!
And Adalyn is just the healthiest, most alert little baby ever.
Something tells us that this boy is going to be a wonderful big brother, in spite of his dubious first reaction.
