Motorists driving past Jalen Manns’ yard were curious why there were numerous police cars lining the street outside his home. They had to look twice when they saw what one of the officers was doing on the ground next to the little boy who was kneeling with his head dropped low. Jalen, 9, was diagnosed just two months prior with a brain tumor. He was undergoing surgery that very day. When the Warner Robins, Georgia, police department learned about the local boy who loves German Shepherds and his impending surgery, they had to take action.
Jalen was a nervous wreck as his operation loomed before him, so several officers stopped by at 6 a.m. to pay him a visit. The men brought along their K9 officers — German Shepherds, of course. Jalen frolicked with the dogs, then one officer knelt down next to Jalen. The officer placed one hand on Jalen and holds onto his K9 with the other hand. He can be heard praying in the emotionally charged video below, “Lord heavenly father, we just come to you now, Lord God, asking for your words of encouragement and strength today.”
Not only did the officers gift Jalen with the power of prayer, but also made his day by inviting him to cuddle with their K9s. Then, the officers gave Jalen and his mom an official police escort to the hospital, even walking him to his room. Watch as these men in blue take time out of their day to help calm the nerves of a very sick little boy who will never forget this moment.
